Proven miner builds

11 platforms from budget AM4 to dual-socket servers. Hashrates are the best community submissions for each CPU, refreshed hourly. Every build is compatibility-checked: socket, memory type, ECC support, and channel population.

RandomX lives in cache
Monero's RandomX algorithm keeps a 2 MB scratchpad in L3 cache for every mining thread. A CPU with 64 MB of L3 runs 32 threads at full speed — which is why big-cache AMD Ryzens dominate.
Bandwidth feeds the threads
Every thread pulls data through the memory controller. Dual-channel is the minimum; Threadripper wants quad-channel and EPYC needs all eight channels populated or you leave hashrate on the table.
RAM: channels over size
Each mining thread needs a small slice of RAM, but the real rule is filling every memory channel. Our build cards compute the DIMM plan that covers the thread requirement and populates all channels.

Best hash per dollar

Every build ranked by hashrate per dollar of estimated build cost — CPU, motherboard, and the RAM required to fill its memory channels. Used enterprise gear usually wins on cost; newer gear wins on hashrate per watt. The XMR/day column applies the live P2Pool average payout per hash. Prices switch to live eBay medians as our developer access rolls out.
